If you are interested in exploring the capital of Catalonia, you need to plan it right. Barcelona is known for many things – the love for football, famed works of Antoni Gaudí, Gothic Quarter, and awesome beaches. While you can always choose to check for Barcelonian VR tours, seeing the sights for real has its magic. In this post, we are sharing more on things to know before you head to the Catalonian Capital.
Check for guided tours. Whether you want to know about Antoni Gaudí, or just wish to explore some of the sights virtually, guided tours are always worth the price. You can cover a lot in a short time, and for families and groups, that’s a good option.
Be sensitive to politics here. If you don’t much about Catalonia and the political tension with the Spanish government, do not talk politics – simple. The locals here do take offense, and things can be really hard for tourists who talk roughly of the movement. Just avoid commenting on local matters.
Walk around. If you really want to catch up with the vibe of this city, you should walk around. You can easily plan a trip on your own, and don’t be afraid because Barcelona is one of the most walkable cities in the world. Also, catching a bus can be confusing and may mean spending a lot of time in traffic.
Be smart at Las Ramblas. We know that Las Ramblas is on the list of must-see places for all travelers, but be smart when you are here. The restaurants here are often insanely overpriced, and there are many tourist traps. Explore the area for sure, but don’t spend all your money here.
Check Nova Icaria Beach. A lot of people want to visit the iconic La Barceloneta Beach, but once you are here, you will realize how crowded it is. If you want to skip that experience, just head to Nova Icaria Beach. Another good option, a little away from the city center, is Mar Bella Beach. Bogatell is a great place for older people.
Check museums on Sundays. Some museums, including the famous Picasso Museum, is free for entrance on Sunday afternoons. You can spend the money on enjoying local food instead!
Finally, do make time for some shopping at Els Encants Vells flea market. You will find small shops that have a lot of gems to offer and often at cheap prices.
